Once a server (or NAS) fails, time is working against you. We provide in-house business-critical restoration services for your SAN, RAID, physical and virtual servers, database systems, and VMs. For these types of restores we will assign a specific named representative to work on your case; we also automatically include NDAs and invoicing, and your data stays inside the UK. If your restore has already failed, please refer to backup and disaster recovery.
Our engineers perform all SAN, RAID, server, database systems, VMs and NAS restores. Critical business restores receive priority processing, one person will be assigned to you throughout this process, and NDAs and invoicing are standard.
Failed restore attempts that write back to the original media destroy exactly what could have been restored from it. As such if there is uncertainty regarding whether the backup is good then image the entire array first. You can then attempt to restore after the imaging process. However once an attempt at restore fails it cannot be undone.
Most often the failure was related to storage issues rather than the machine around it, and to the loss of multiple members of a RAID configuration.

In most cases you only pay if we recover your data. When performing physical drive level recovery, we request a 50% deposit which covers all associated parts and bench time. The balance is only due when we have successfully completed the recovery. Forensic investigation/CCTV recovery services are billed regardless of whether successful recovery is achieved; we clearly indicate this before you agree to proceed versus hidden in fine print.
We will have an engineer review your device after you send it into our lab for a no-cost evaluation (free diagnostic) with a short note on what happened, and provide you with your exact quote in writing prior to doing any work.
Data recovery begins by sending your drive to us. When you do so, be sure to package it carefully, put a note in there with some information about what occurred (and include your contact info), and then ship it to us. Once we perform the diagnostic at no cost to you, we will confirm your exact price in writing before we start working on your device.
Sending it by post? We recommend sending via a trackable and insured delivery method. If you prefer to hand-deliver it, then you can do this Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5:30pm. No prior appointment is required; simply package the unit as described previously.

Shut everything down and leave the disks in bay order. Do not allow the rebuild to continue; do not recreate the array; and do not restore the back-up onto the original volume prior to backing the data up elsewhere. Almost all of the unrecoverable arrays that we have encountered were still recoverable at the time they failed.
Both as standard. NDAs are signed as a matter of course prior to commencing work. All work is referred through a single named point of contact, all data resides within the UK, and well-established businesses are invoiced rather than paying up front, with purchase orders referenced throughout.
Yes, that’s the difference that makes the difference. A byte-for-byte exact copy of a file can still fail when attaching as a database with an open transaction or containing damaged pages, therefore instead of providing a file that will fail upon attachment, the structure of the database will be tested for integrity and all involved object(s) will be noted as opposed to returned to fail.
Diagnostics are provided free of charge. Diagnostic results are usually back within 48 hours. Straightforward array-based work (as long as approvals have been received) will typically take a few working days to complete. Any additional recovery or testing may require additional time depending on whether donor parts or extensive image capture is required. We do indicate how much time it will likely take in our original quote.
Yes. In addition to any other documentation you receive from us, we provide a written, plain English explanation of what failed, what we were able to recover, and what could not be recovered. This documentation is prepared for reading by those who may not be technically savvy (i.e., insurance companies and board members).
