Losing data is stressful enough without worrying about who else might see it. We meet UK data-protection law in full, we're listed on the ICO register, and every recovery runs in-house with our own engineers — your files stay in our care the whole way, and never leave the UK.
On the ICO register, GDPR-compliant. Your drive is touched by our engineers alone, held in confidence start to finish, and erased from our systems the moment it's back in your hands.
The arrangements, stated plainly rather than buried in terms.
Where the work happens and who has access to it.
Recovery is carried out by our own engineers rather than passed to a third party, and each job runs through a single named contact from diagnostic to delivery. That matters for confidentiality as much as convenience — the fewer hands a device passes through, the shorter the list of people with access to it.
We do not read what we recover. Verification means confirming files open and the structure matches what you expected, not examining content. On privileged or sensitive matters, tell us at the outset and we will take your instruction on how you would prefer verification handled.
Standard on forensic work and available on any job that may be scrutinised.
Where material may become evidence or form part of a regulatory response, handling is documented: signed exhibit records, logged movements, and cryptographic hashes taken at imaging and re-verified at each stage so any alteration would be demonstrable. That follows ACPO principles for digital evidence.
It is worth knowing this is available even when a job did not start as a forensic one. A failure that turns out to involve a personal-data breach or an insurance claim is easier to account for if the original was imaged read-only at the outset — which it always is.
For the devices that do not come back into service.
Deleting and formatting both leave data recoverable, so when hardware genuinely needs to leave your control the method has to suit the media: verified overwriting for hard drives, cryptographic erase for SSDs where wear levelling puts reserved blocks beyond reach, and physical destruction where a drive no longer responds at all.
Certificates record serial numbers, method and date — usually the actual deliverable, since it is what an auditor or client asks to see. Your original device is always returned after a recovery unless you ask us to destroy it, and we confirm exactly what is being destroyed before doing anything irreversible.
Quick answers to what we're asked most.
No. Data remains in the UK at every stage — there is no offshore processing and no cloud staging in another jurisdiction.
Our own engineers, working through a single named contact per job. Work is not subcontracted, which keeps the number of people with access as short as possible.
No. Verification means confirming files open and the structure matches what you expected, not examining content. On privileged or sensitive matters, tell us and we will take your instruction on how verification should be handled.
For a retention period you agree, after which working copies are securely destroyed. The period is your decision — some clients want a window in case something is missed, others want it gone immediately.
Yes. Signed exhibit records, logged handling and cryptographic hashes verified at each stage, following ACPO principles. It is standard on forensic work and available on any job that may later be scrutinised.
Yes, unless you would rather we destroyed it securely — in which case we confirm exactly what is being destroyed, by serial number, before doing anything irreversible.
A confidential business issue or personal files you can't replace — either way, it's in safe hands here in the UK. Kick off with a free diagnostic, or ask us about setting up an NDA first.
