When you receive your quotation, send your device to us via insured post, or simply come down to John Eccles House on the Oxford Science Park; no appointment is required. As for sending in the bare hard drive, please do that where you can; however, if you are sending in your external unit(s), please include the enclosures as well. Please attach a note explaining how you arrived at this point and what steps you have taken so far.
We classify the fault (mechanical, electronic, firmware, or logical) since this will determine which path to take, how much it costs, and what the chances of success are. There is no charge and no obligation to proceed.
One figure of money agreed upon prior to making any physical changes. That number does not change after the agreement has been made. If it would be best to fix the problem using software or even impossible to fix at all, we tell you right here.
Fitting donor heads, board repair with ROM migration, service area repair, etc. Enough to make the device readable but not necessarily functional once again. It’s not expected to function afterwards.
The device is cloned and all else happens against that clone. Rebuilt file systems, re-assembled arrays, and files carved out when all structure has been lost.

We provide honest estimates of time as opposed to making promises that may never be fulfilled.
The diagnostic process should generally be completed within 48 hours. A typical single-drive recovery usually takes three to four working days from approval. Recovery processes for larger configurations such as multi-disk arrays, or when sourcing donor parts or carrying out extensive imaging, require more time. Therefore, we will always include an estimate of completion time along with our initial quote, instead of providing it after work has commenced. If needed, priority service is also available, and the cost for this option will be included in our quote. This does remove you from the normal waiting queue, although it cannot speed up the recovery rate of a failed disk.
The prices to start are £250 +VAT for card/USB stick recovery and £300 +VAT for a single drive, with RAID/NAS/servers being available in price from £500 +VAT. In most cases you only pay if we recover your data; additionally a 50% deposit is taken when physical drive level work needs to be done and you only pay the final half of the fee on success. Your recovered data is returned to you on brand new storage media, and also returned via free return shipping.
