We are a local, independently owned business with a unit located at John Eccles House, Oxford Science Park; we have been recovering data since 2002 and do so from our own lab in the UK, so you can bring your device in person or post it over. In all instances prior to commencing work on your device we will provide you a free diagnostic and a written quote, and in most cases you only pay if we recover your data.

// data recovery in oxford

How your city gets its data back.

Oxford has an approximate population size of 162,000 people. The university city is home to two major universities (University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes), the Oxford Science Park and the MINI plant at Cowley, along with several other large employers including pharmaceutical companies, scientific firms, and many service professionals. Thousands of residents also travel into London daily. All of these organisations have data stored on hard drives which are susceptible to failure without notice.

Although many times the data on a failed drive will remain intact (the issue is with the file system, the heads, or the circuit board) the issue lies with being able to read that data, something we have been doing every day for years. We are located at the Oxford Science Park; please feel free to drop it off or post it in, whichever way is easiest.

Recovering data from failed drives since 2002: no charge for a written diagnostic, all prices set prior to recovery, and in most cases you only pay if we recover your data.

What we do is recover data, and we have been doing this out of Oxford (UK) since 2002. All data recoveries are carried out in our UK based laboratory using in house personnel as opposed to sending your items to someone else who may be located abroad. Your data never leaves the UK; therefore, it remains safe with us. All types of equipment and media such as databases, servers, NAS boxes and RAID arrays, laptops & Macs, camera cards & USB sticks, SSDs and hard drives all move through this laboratory.

Being on your doorstep means you have two choices: to drop off the device with us at our Oxford unit (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm), or simply send it in the post. In either case, before any work is done, a free, no obligation written diagnosis and a fixed price quote will be sent. In most cases you only pay if we recover your data.

// nearby areas we cover

Across Oxford and around it.

The postcodes we see most often from here, along with all the surrounding villages and estates, which we cover just the same.

In addition to Oxford itself (OX1 to OX4), drives come to us from all parts of the surrounding areas: Headington, Cowley, Jericho, Summertown & Iffley. Whatever village or town you live in within the local area, the drive can be brought directly to our unit or delivered via tracked post; our free diagnostic and terms are the same whether you bring it or it is sent to us: in most cases you only pay if we recover your data.

// sending your device in

Two simple steps.

We will perform a free diagnosis of your device upon receipt, and ask some questions as to what may have occurred, after which one of our engineers will then provide you with an exact written quotation prior to performing any work.

1

Send us your device

Before dropping off or posting your device please request a quotation either by telephone or using our quotation form. The first step to recover your data is to get the device to us. Please ensure that you pack the device securely, include your contact information and then forward it to us. Once we have completed the free diagnostic of your device we will provide you with your exact price in writing prior to commencing any further work.

How to pack it
  • Put all of the item (device) into an appropriate small carton or a padded envelope that will protect all parts and items well enough to prevent damage in the post.
  • The caddies, cables and power supplies may be left out as they are not necessary to complete the recovery process.
  • Include your contact information: name, address, telephone number, email etc. by inserting a piece of paper with this information or using our shipping form, and seal it up.

Your Oxford questions, answered.

Our laboratory unit is located at: John Eccles House, Oxford Science Park, Robert Robinson Avenue, Littlemore, Oxford, OX4 4GP. The laboratory is located approximately 5 miles and 15 minutes from Oxford city centre. Please visit us on one of our working days between 9am and 5:30pm. Alternatively, please send your storage unit to us by post, and we will undertake a full, free diagnostic analysis prior to providing you with a fixed price quotation for the recovery of your stored data.

Yes, and we are glad you asked. An Oxford based business will provide you with many advantages. When you have a quote from us just go visit the unit at your leisure on weekdays between 9am and 5:30pm. No appointments required. For laptops, NAS or servers please remove the drives (and label them) and bring these alone. It’s always a good idea to give us a quick ring prior to visiting so we can prepare and give you a rough estimate of cost.

Virtually everything that stores data: databases, virtual machines, servers, NAS units and RAID arrays, external drives, Windows desktop & laptop computers, Macintosh desktop & laptop computers, camera memory cards, SD cards, USB sticks, SSDs and hard disk drives. Any deletion, formatting, click of death issue, water damaged item, RAID array fail issue or ransomware, etc., etc. is worthy of a free diagnostic.

Our in house engineers will handle all work related to the items listed above. The items will never be sent to any third party laboratory, which has kept our track record solid since 2002.

Yes, for most of our work. When we are doing repairs to your hard-drive(s) on an individual basis we require a 50% deposit upfront; however, the remaining 50% does not become payable until your files have been successfully recovered. Therefore, no matter how many attempts fail to recover your data you will not pay the full price. A complimentary (free) written quote outlines everything that has already been discussed prior to commencing work.

The price of recovery will depend upon both the device that is to be recovered and the nature of the problem. For example, memory cards, USB sticks etc generally start from £250+VAT; a single hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) is priced from £300+VAT; however larger systems such as RAID or NAS/servers can cost upwards of £500+VAT. All jobs begin with a free, no obligation diagnostic and written quotation so you know what your costs will be prior to commencing the recovery process.
