The Missing Parts Are Not Part of the Problem

His enquiry apologises for a machine's condition and lists things that turn out to be irrelevant. An old desktop computer "(no power cable, keyboard or monitor). Don't know its condition but understand it was working. Would like to recover its data, photos in particular" as a surprise. The decode: what a desktop of that era actually is

Why the missing parts do not matter: a power lead, a keyboard and a monitor are all things needed to use a computer. Nobody needs to use this one. The drive is a separate component connected by two cables, and it reads on any machine with the right adapter.
